THE STUDENTS’ RESPONSES ON THE USE OF METACOGNITIVE STRATEGY IN LEARNING LISTENING AT THE ELEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMAN 5 LHOKSEUMAWE (A Descriptive Qualitative Research)
XMLThis thesis entitled “The Students’ Responses on the used of Metacognitive
Strategy in Learning Listening at the Eleventh Grade Students of SMAN 5
Lhokseumawe (A Descriptive Qualitative)”. This research was conducted
because the researcher found that the students’ are still poor in listening. Many
students’ are not very good at understanding English learning especially in
listening skill. They said that listening is difficult. Based on explaining above, the
researcher interested in using metacognitive strategy. The purpose of this research
was to know the students’ responses on the used of metacognitive strategy in
learning listening at the Eleventh grade students of SMAN 5 Lhokseumawe. The
design applied in this research was qualitative approach in type of descriptive
qualitative. Furthermore, the techniques of data collection were observation,
questionnaire and interview. The subject of this research were nine students from
different responses level that can be represented all of the students. The technique
of analyzing data of this research consisted of data reduction, data display and
conclusion/verification which was found in Miles and Huberman’s model. The
result of this research are there were three students who responses are really like,
three students who responses are just like and three students who responses are
did not like in learning listening by using metacognitive strategy. So, it can
concluded that the students’ responses on the used of metacognitive strategy is
very good, but there were some students’ did not like and did not understand
about this strategy.
