AN ANALYSIS ON STUDENTS’ DIFFICULTIES IN WRITING ANALYTICAL EXPOSITION TEXT (A Case Study at the Eleventh Grade Students of SMA Negeri 1 Lhoksukon)

The research is about analysis on the difficulties faced by the eleventh
grade students of SMAN 1 Lhoksukon in writing analytical exposition text. The
objective of the study is to know what kinds of difficulties are faced by the
students, and to know what difficulties are mostly faced by the students. The
method used in this research was a case study included as qualitative research. As
the sample, source of the data in this research was taken by using purposive
sampling. The number of research sample was the students of XI IPA 4 class that
consisted of 20 students. The technique used for collecting data was interview.
The finding of this study showed the highest frequency of difficulties is editing
and revising (33,74 %), the lowest frequency of difficulties is sequencing ideas
(3,66 %). Through this study, it is expected that the research would be useful for
both the English teacher and students in increasing their ability in writing
analytical exposition.
