USING SNAKES AND LADDERS GAME IN IMPROVING STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY MASTERY (A Collaborative Classroom Action Research at the Second year Students of Madrasah Tsanawiyah Swasta Ulumuddin Cunda)
XMLThis thesis entitled “Using Snake and Ladder Game in Improving Students’
Vocabulary Mastery (A Collaborative Classroom Action Research on the Second
Year Students of MTsSUlumuddinCunda)”.Vocabulary is one of the most
important elements that should be mastered by the students who are leaning a
foreign language such as English. In fact, the students had low motivation in
learning vocabulary because the teacher did not use various teaching strategies in
teaching vocabulary.The purposes of this research were to know how snake and
ladder game improves the students’ vocabulary masteryand also to investigate the
class atmosphere when snake and ladder gameis used in teaching vocabulary. The
approach used in this research was qualitative approach and the kind of this
research was collaborative classroom action research. This research was
conducted in MTsSUlumuddinCundaand the subject of the research waseighth
grade studentswhich consist of 22 students. There were two cycles in this
research. Both cycleswere conducted in three meetings. The result of the research
showed that the students’ average test score increased from the cycle I until the
cycle II. And the students’ activities were success and met the criteria of success.
