The title of this thesis is “The Effectiveness of using Cartoon Movie Marsha and the
Bear in Teaching Vocabulary.” Vocabularymasteryis needed and also important, especially for us who positioned English as a foreign language. The researcher found
there are some students felt difficulty to master vocabulary. Besides, they dislike
studying English because they lack in vocabulary. The problems of the research are “is
there any significant effect in achievement between the students who are taught
vocabulary using cartoon movie from those who are taught using conventional method
to the seventh grade students of MTsS Misbahul Ulum”. The objective of this research
is to know whether there is any significant effect in achievement between studentswho
are taught using cartoon movie from those who are taught name of object using
conventional method. The researcher expects that cartoon movie can increase the
students’ mastery in especially name of object. Design in this research was quasi
experimental. The population in this group is all of students seventh grade of MTsS
Misbahul Ulum that students has 192 students consist four class.The researcher took
two group as sample, those are group VII/C as an experimental group and the group
VII/B as control group. In this case, the researcher used simple random sampling. The
sample of this research is 61 students. The researcher took place for four meetings.
Teaching experiment was applied differently between experimental and control groups.
In experimental group, the researcher used cartoon movie in teaching names of object. On the other hand, in the control group was taught using conventional method. The
result of this research showed that the student’s achievement in experimental group was
higher than control group. Based on the research result, it was obtained that tcount > ttable
as 2,27> 1,67, so the researcher conclude that tcount was greater than ttable.Ha was
accepted while Ho was rejected. Based on explanation above, the researcher may
conclude that there was significant effect of cartoon movie in teaching name of object.
