THE APPLICATION OF SPIDER MAP TECHNIQUE IN TEACHING WRITING TO THE SECOND GRADE STUDENTS OF SMPN 3 SYAMTALIRA ARON (A Quasi Experimental Research)
XMLThe title of this thesis is “The Application of Spider Map Technique in Teaching
Writing to the Second Grade Students of SMPNegeri 3 Syamtalira Aron (A Quasi
Experimental Research). The reason why the researcher conducted the research in
this school was because the students achievement is still very low especially in
writing. There are some factors that cause this, they are: Students seldom to
writing, the students are still confused how to start writing, and the strategy of the
teacher use to teach the students writing does not motivate and encourage them. It
was new technique used at SMPNegeri 3 Syamtalira Aron. This research was
experimental research with Quasi experimental design. The population of this
research was all of the classes from the eight grade students of SMP Negeri 3
Syamtalira Aron. In choosing the sample, the researcher usesimple sampling. In
this case, class VIII-2 was experimental groupandclass VIII-1 as a control group.
Sample from experimental group consist of 20 students and control group consist
of 20 students. So the total number of the sample was 40 students. The data was
collected by giving test, there are pre-test and post-test and then analyzed with
used statistical formula t-test the hypothesis. The researcher gave treatmentwas
conducted four meetings. In the experimental group, the researcher gave treatment
by using spider map technique. While, in control group the researcher used
convensional method. The result from analysisdata, it was shown that there were
significant different between the experimental and countrol group. The score of
experimental was higher than control group. The students score was analyzed by
using t-test formula. Based on the research result, it was obtained that ttest>ttable as
9,6498 > 1,6866. So, ttest score was higher than the critical value of table, it means
that the research hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, while null hypothesis (Ho) was
rejected. As the result, the researcher concluded that teaching writing by using
spider map technique can give better result to students ability in mastering
writing
