This thesis entitled “Exploring Teacher’s Strategies In Teaching Writing On
Descriptive Text (A Descriptive Qualitative Research AT MTsS Muhibbul
Wathan)” writing is very urgent to be mastered because it helps the people
communicate with other more efficiently and practically. This issue is appropriate
to curriculum 2013 of engglish expectation that the seven grade students of junior
high school are able to write a simple text of descriptive, narrative, recount, and
procedure. not all students were able to write the descriptive text in good generic
structure.Lack vocabularies. The problem of the research were what strategies are
used by the teacher in teaching writing descriptive text and Why the teacher
applied these strategies in teaching writing descriptive text. The purpose of the
research were to find out the strategies are used by the teacher for teaching writing
descriptive text and to explain the reasons of applying vary strategies in teaching
writing descriptive text. The research design used in this research was qualitative
and the kind of this research was descriptive qualitative. This research was
conducted in MTsS Muhibbul Wathan meurah mulia and the subject of the
research was one teaching from the eighth grade students which has different level
of ability. The technique of collecting data was though observation and interview.
Meanwhile, the technique of analyzing the data was using inductive method
which consist of three steps namely data reduction, data display, and data
verification. The result of this research showed that the strategy applied by the
teacher in writing descriptive text was cooperative learning strategy. This strategy
was applied for teaching writing to help the students be easier in writing
descriptive text. In this strategy the students were grouped in pairs or triads to
make a paper together. Every student participates in every writing steps. The
students usually would write better and have higher pride to their writing. The
main teachers’ reason of using cooperative learning strategy was to help student in
solving the problem faced in writing descriptive text.By applying this strategy, all
of the students got the same opportunity to write their composition and discussed
with their friends in group or the other group to solve the problem. Besides, the
students also could decrease their errors in writing and improved it to the next
writing
