ABSTRACT
This thesis entitled “An Analisis of the Students Learning in Using
Relative Pronouns at the Second Year Students of SMP Negeri 5 Lhokseumawe
on the 2014/2015Academic Year (A Case Study)”. As we know that relative
pronouns are used to give more information about things or persons being refer to
by using main words of relative pronouns. This kind of material usually appeared
in Junior High school students material, but there were some students still did not
reach the competence in learning it. Based on background above, the purpose of
this research is to find out how is the competence of students in learning relative
promoun.. In this research, the design applied is descriptive qualitative approach.
The data was analized qualitatively in type of case study research. Data collection
techniques are observation and documentation. The result is the researcher found
that students competence in differenciating relative pronoun were still less. the
researcher found that although most of the students know what are relative
pronoun, they still can not understand how to use and differenciate between them.
Especially in using relative pronoun in sentences. They often put wrong relative
pronoun for certain sentences. Kinds of pronoun that their often made mistakes
with were who, whom, whose and that.
