The title of this thesis is “The Effectiveness of Using Quantum Teaching Method
in Mastering Reading Comprehension (An Experimental Research at SMP Negeri
10 Lhokseumawe)’. All of the problems are faced by students at SMP Negeri 10
Lhokseumawe in the eighth grade. Students’s scores are still lack in examination
result. Students can read the English text but they do not know what the meaning
of the text being read. Student are low ability in learning reading. In this case,
students do not use learning methods in learning until they have many problems in
leaning. Then, the teachers also have the prominent role to encourage the students,
so that they want to take parts to be more active in teaching activity. If they find it
deadly boring they will probably become de-motivated, whereas if they have
confidence in the method they will find it motivating. The problem of this
research: is using quantum teaching method effective in mastering reading
comprehension? While the purpose of this research is to to know whether using
quantum teaching method is effective in mastering reading comprehension. The
design of this research is quantitative approach by using true experimental design.
The data collection of this research is by giving the test, there are pre-test and
post-test for the students. The researcher analyzes the data by using t-test formula
according to Sudjana. The result of the research that of Score t analyzed and
interpreted to the table t , the finding was Score t = 6.11 bigger than table t = 1,66. Its
mean that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, and Ho was rejected, the
value is significance based on the score of Score t . Thereby, could be concluded that
teaching Reading Comprehension by using Quantum Teaching Method was more
effective to teach the students Reading Comprehension at Quantum Teaching
Method in teaching Reading Comprehension to the eighth year students of SMP
Negeri 10 Lhokseumawe than without using Quantum Teaching Method.
