IMPROVING ENGLISH PRONUNCIATION THROUGH AUDIO-LINGUAL METHOD (Collaborative Classroom Action Research at Seventh grade of SMP N 2 Langkahan)

The research entitled “Improving English Pronunciation Through Audio Lingual Method (A
Collaborative Action Research at Seventh Grade of SMP N 2 Langkahan). The design applied in this
research was qualitative and quantitative approach. The data was analized in quanlitatively and
simple quantitatively. In collecting the data were observation and test. The study was collaborative
action research desigh. The research and collaborator worked together in the action. The subjects in
this research were all the students at the class VII1 of SMP N 2 Langkahan. This study was conducted
into two cycle by following the procedure of the action research. In collecting the data, the researcher
used some instruments, namely: observation checklist form, field note, and test to the students in two
cycle. The result of the research that firstly, the students ability in good pronunciation on reading text
in the pre-test was meet fair criteria that the students got the everagescore in test 54.19, it shown the
students did meet the criteria of success. To make the students success in reading or certainly, the
researcher made the research, in the first cycle the students’ everage score is 69.19, it has been in fair
criteria. It meant the students has not been syccess. Then, the everage score in the second cycle of
post test was 80.16 was good criteria. The differences of everage score between pre-test and post-test
in first cycle was shown 15% the criteria was very poor criteria and the differences between post-test
cycle 1 and cycle 2 are 10.97 was good criteria. Second, the everage score was shown 73.72 for the
third meeting in cycle 1, the criteria was very good criteria for the students activities in teaching
learning process, from the first meeting to te third meeting that have that have a change to the the
teacher in teaching learning process. The first meeting was 64.70, it was fair criteria, the second
meeting was 74.11, it was good criteria and the third meeting was 82.35, it was very good criteria.
Thrid, the everage score was shown meeting was 93.33 for the third meeting in cycle 2, the criteria
wa very good criteria
