THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING ACTIVE-REFLECTIVE METHOD IN TEACHING WRITING NARRATIVE TEXT (An Experimental at the Eleventh Grade Students’ of MAN Lhokseumawe)
XMLThis thesis entitled “The Effectiveness of Using Active-Reflective Method in
Teaching Writing Narrative Text”. Based on the observation that had been done
by the researcher in MAN Lhokseumawe that the student faced a lot of problems
in writing, especially in writing narrative text, such as; many students had low
ability in writing narrative text because most of them faced difficulty in arranging
their ideas to create sentences. Besides, the students are not able to master writing
because of less practicing as well. They had less motivation in writing, because
they feel unconfindent of English subject. The researcher had formulated the
problem of the research, “is there any significant effect in achievement between
the students who are taught writing narrative text by using active-reflective
method from those students who are taught writing narrative by using silent way
method at MAN Lhokseumawe”. The purpose of this research is to know whether
there is significant effect in achievement between the student who are taught
writing narrative text by using active-reflective method from those students who
are taught writing narrative by using silent way method. The research was
designed as an experimental reseach by using quantitative data approach. In this
research, the sample was taken by using lottery. The writer took two classes as the
samples, those were class XI MIA-1 and XI IIS-3. The sample of this research
were 38 students, 18 students in the class of XI MIA-1 as experimental group and
20 students in the class of XI IIS-3 as control group. In the experimental group,
the researcher used Active-Reflective Method in teaching writing narrative text.
Meanwhile, in the control group, the researcher only explained about narrative
text without using active-reflective method. Before teaching learning process, the
writer gave pre-test, and after teaching learning process for two meetings, the
writer gave post-test to the students. The researcher need to found out the ttest>
ttable that is 7.49>2.042. So, Ho was rejected and Ha was accepted. In the word, the
researcher hyphotesis is accepted. It means that there is any effectiveness of using
active-reflective method in teaching writing narrative text in MAN Lhokseumawe.
