AN ANALYSIS OF LEARNING STYLES USED BY HIGH ACHIEVEMENT STUDENTS IN LEARNING ENGLISH
XMLThis thesis entitled “An Analysis of Learning Styles Used by High Achievement
Students in Learning English”. The research is conducted in SMP Negeri 11
Lhokseumawe. The problem of the research are “How those learning styles by the
high achievement students in learning English? and what is the kind of learning
style mostly applied by the high achievement students in learning English?. The
objectives of the research are: to analyze the learning styles by the high
achievement students in learning English and to know learning styles mostly
applied by the high achievement students in learning English. The method in this
research, the design applied is descriptive qualitative approach. To get the data the
writer used some techniques, they were observation, documentation and
Interview. The result of the research that the learning styles used by the high
achievement students in learning English. there were Riski Wanda and Cut
Nailatul Fitri choose the learning style is “Type 1 – the concrete, reflective
learner”, Ayu Rahmadhani and Raushan Fikri that they chose the “Type 2 – the
abstract, reflective learner”, Miswatul Khaira and Mauliza Rahmah, they choose
the “Type 3 – the abstract, active learner” and Eliana, Nurul Azmi and Rizka
Mauliza choose the “Type 4 – concrete, active learner. The dominants style are
used by the high achievement students in learning English in SMP Negeri 11
Lhokseumawe are three students use type 4, namely Eliana, Nurul Azmi and
Rizka Mauliza who choose the “Type 4 – concrete, active learner”,. The reason
students choose this learning style is due to the students can learn based on their
initiatives and desires. Most students can study hard and diligently because of a
high sense of initiative. Learning styles chosen by students like this are useful in
situations that require action and initiative.
