THE EFFECTEVENEES OF USING MUDDIEST POINT STRATEGY IN TEACHING READING COMPREHENSION (An ExperimentalResearch At MAN LHOKSEUMAWE)
XMLThe thesis “ The Effectiveness of using Muddiest Point Strategy in Teaching
Reading Comprehension.” The problem of this reserach is ; The students have
lack vocabulary students were not interested in reading English text especially
Report text, and the teacher always used the same technique or strategy in
teaching and made the students feeling bored. The purpose of this research is to
know whether there is any significant difference achievement between this
students who are taught reading comprehension by using MPS strategy from those
who are taught through conventional method in teaching reading comprehension
and the research only focused on teaching reading report text. This research is
experimental research with quasi experimental design. The data was collected
through pre-test and post-test and then analyzed by using statical formula t-test to
determine hypothesis. The samples are two classes XI MIA 1, and XI MIA 2
which consist of 30 students experimental and 30 students of control group. Then,
the researcher administered pre-test to both groups. In experimental group, the
researcher applied MPS as a method in teaching reading comprehension, but in
control group was thaught by using conventional method. After giving treatment,
the researcher gave the students post-test to both groups. In this research, the
experimental group had a better post-test to both group. The result research
showed that the students achievement in control group was lower than
experimental group. This was proved by the result of t-test was 1,7. The score ttable on significance 0,05 was 1,671. It means that t-test was higher than t-table.
The obtained that ttest > ttable, that is 1,7 > 1,671 and df = 58. From distribution t
obtained = 1,671. Based of the research, the researcher concluded that the
hypothesis of this research (Ha) was accepted and null hyphotesis(Ho) was
rejected. Therefore, that using Muddiest Point (MPS) s a method in teaching
reading comprehension of report text was effective.
