AN ANALYSIS OF SPEECH ACTS DELIVERED BY STUDENTS AND TEACHER ENGLISH TEACHING

This research entitled “An Analysis of Speech Acts Delivered by Students and
Teacher in English Teaching and Learning (A Descriptive Qualitative Research).
Language is communication tool between human and environment. However the
language is not just what we used when we talk with friends but also the meaning
contained in sentence and every word we has found. The problems of this research
how the speech acts are delivered students and teacher in conversation and to
know how the speech acts are delivered students and teacher in conversation and
to know what kind of speech acts are dominantly used by students and teacher in
conversation. In the process in teaching and learning, the students are expected to
pay attention to the teacher, to always behave and to have a good speech acts. In
the fact that occurs among students is different from what was expected. The
student’s speech act is still nature so they choose the speech act that they assume
appropriate. At their level of age, student talk with their teacher with used the
same speech act that they used to talk with their friends. To obtain the data, the
researcher used descriptive qualitative as a method. The researcher is also used
analysis observation and analysis documentation which choose observation
checklist as an instrument of this research. The source of the data was tents grade
of students of SMA N 1 Seunuddon which has taken purposive sampling as
technique. In analyzing the data, the researcher used data reduction, data display
and conclusion. Based on data collection and data analysis, the researcher was
found 261 of utterances consisted on the recording. Which is the researcher found
35 of locution, 1 of illocution, and 13 of perlocution. Locution is dominantly used
in this research. This utterances was from by students and the teacher became the
content of locution, illocution, and perlocution in the analysis of semiotic
pragmatics.
