TEACHING READING COMPREHENSION BY USING READING GUIDE-O-RAMA STRATEGY
XMLThis thesis is entitled “Teaching Reading Comprehension By Using Reading
Guide-O-Rama Strategy (A Quasi Experimental Research at The Tenth
Grade Students’ of SMAN 1 Syamtalira Aron’’. The problem of this research
is “is there any significant effect of using Reading Guide-O-Rama strategy in
teaching reading comprehension?’’. The purpose of this research is to find out the
significant effect of using Reading Guide-O-Rama strategy in teaching reading
comprehension. Technique of data collection was done by using pre-test and posttest, the test consisted 20 multiple choise items for each test about reading
comprehension (narrative text). The samples were 60 students coming from two
classes consisting of 30 students of X analysis 1 as the experimental group and 30
students of X analysis 2 as the control group. The research used simple rendom
sampling and chosen by using lottery technique. Technique of analyzing data was
t-test formula. The result of this study showed that there was significant difference
on students’ reading comprehension of narrative text by using Reading Guide-ORama strategy and without Reading Guide-O-Rama strategy. It could be seen that
on the df=1,67 and in the degree of significance level α = 0,05, the value of degree
of significance is 2,43. By comparing the value to is higher than t1. The result
showed that t-test > t-table (2,43 > 1,67). The alternative hypothesis (Ha) was
accepted and null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected. Thus, it means that the use of
Reading Guide-O-Rama strategy an effective in teaching reading for tenth grade
students’ of SMAN 1 Syamtalira Aron in academic year 2018/2019.
