THE EFFECT OF USING ACCELERATED LEARNING METHOD (ALM) TO STUDENTS’ SPEAKING ABILITY (An Experimental Research at the Eighth Grade Students of MTsN Puenteut)
XMLThis thesis is entitled “The Effect of Using Accelerated Learning Method To
Students’ Speaking Ability (An Experimental Research at MTsN Punteut)”.
Thisresearch was conducted because the researcher formerly found in that the students’
speaking skill was still low. Yet, speaking is a kind of English language that can be a
testing device of skill speaking ability. The aim of this research wasto know any
significant difference in speaking achievement between the students who were taught
speaking by using accelerated learning method from those who were taught by using
conventional method. The design applied in this research was quantitative research in
type of experimental research. The source of the data was the pre-test and post-test from
Experiment and control classes. The objects were fifty students of eighth grade class at
MTsN Punteut. Simple Random Sampling (SRS) technique was implemented in order to
select the sample in this research. Furthermore, the researcher used Accelerated Learning
Method in teaching English speaking class. As the result, the researcher found that the
mean score of pre-test of experimental group was 37.48 and the mean score of pre-test of
control group was 35.2. After the researcher gave treatment to both of the classes, the
means score of post-test of experimental group became 64.56 while control group became
48.8. It means that the score was higher after the researcher gave treatment than before
treatment. Hypothesis authentication found by using Mann-Withney shows that the
significant level 2.5% or α

= 0,025, it was obtained that test-Mann-Withney > ttable (Table of t
Value), that is 9.22 > 2.423 and df = 48. From the distribution t obtained t(0.025)(48) = 2.423.
Ho was rejected while Ha was accepted. So, using accelerated learning method to
students’ speaking ability of MTsN Puenteut was effective.
