THE EFFECTIVINESS OF USING LIGHTENING THE LEARNING CLIMATE STRATEGY TO THE STUDENTS’ VOCABULARY MASTERY (A Quasi Experimental Research at the Tenth Grade of SMKN 2 Lhokseumawe)
XMLThis thesis entitled “The Effectiveness of Using Lightening the Learning Climate
Strategy to The Students’ Vocabulary Mastery (A Quasi Experimental Research at
the Tenth Grade of SMKN 2 Lhokseumawe). Vocabulary is one of the most
important elements that should be mastered by the students who are learning a
foreign language such as English. There were many students still have problem in
mastering vocabulary. The students found several difficulties in the process of
learning vocabulary. They may be confronted by words that are totally unfamiliar
with them and it may cause some problems to them. The problem of the research
in this research “was there any significant difference in achievement between
students who were taught by using Lightening the Learning Climate Strategy in
mastering vocabulary from those who were taught by conventional methods?”.
The purpose of this research was to know whether there was significant difference
in achievement between students who were taught by using Lightening the
Learning Climate Strategy in mastering vocabulary from those who were taught
by conventional methods. This research was experimental research and used quasi
experimental design. The population of this research was the tenth grade student
in Department of Culinary of SMK Negeri 2 Lhokseumawe which has population
of 48 students. In this research, the samples were determined by using purposive
sampling technique. Based on teacher information, the researcher selected two
classes as the sample. Class X BG 1 that consisted of 24 students was chosen as
experimental group and class X BG 2 consisted of 24 students was chosen as
control group. The total number of the samples was 48 students. The instrument
used to collect the data was test. The test were pre-test and post-test.The
researcher gave pre-test before giving treatment and post-test after giving
treatment. The treatment was conducted in three meetings. The data was analyzed
by using t-test formula. The researcher found that the score of t-test was 2.31,
while the score of t-table on significance level 0.05 and df = 46 was 1.68. It
meants that t-test was higher than t-table that was 2.31 >1.68. Therefore, based on
the criteria, the researcher concluded that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) of this
research was accepted and the null hypothesis (Ho) was rejected.
