THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING OUT OF STOCK GAME IN TEACHING VOCABULARY TO SEVENTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMP NEGERI 1 SYAMTALIRA ARON

The title of this thesis is “The Effectiveness of Using Out of Stock Game in
Teaching Vocabulary to Seventh Grade Students of SMPN1 Syamtalira Aron”.
The students had difficulties in memorizing vocabularies, they got difficulties
when answering the question related to countable, uncountable nouns and
descriptive adjective. The problem of this research “Is there any significant effect
in achievement between the students who are taught by using Out of Stock Game
in teaching Vocabulary from those who are taught by Conventional Method?” The
purpose of this research was “To know whether there is any significant effect in
achievement between the students who are taught by using Out of Stock Game in
teaching Vocabulary of from those who are taught by Conventional Method” The
population of this research was all students at seventh grade of SMPN 1
Syamtalira Aron. The researcher took two groups as the sample, those were VII1
as experimental group and VII2 as control group. The total numbers of sample was
50 students. The data were collected by given test, there were pre test and post test
and the data analyzed by using statistical formula t-test. The treatment by using
Out of Stock Game was only given for experimental group. The score of
experimental group was higher than control group. The students’ score was
analyzed by using t-test formula. Based on the research result, it was obtained that
ttest >ttable, 2,41>1,67, So, ttest score was higher than the critical value of table, it
meant that the research hypothesis (Ha) was accepted, while null hypothesis (H0)
was rejected. As a result, the researcher concluded that using Out of stock game in
teaching vocabulary was effective.
