THE EFFECTIVENESS OF USING BAMBOO DANCING METHOD IN TEACHING SPEAKING (An Experimental Research at the seventh grade SMPN 11 Lhokseumawe)

This research is entitled “The effectiveness of using bamboo dancing method
in teaching speaking”The purpose of the research was “to know whether there
is any significant effect in achievement between the students who are taught
speaking by using bamboo dancing method from those who are taught by using
conversation method.This researchwas intended to find out the effect of using
BambooDancing method on students’ speaking ability. This research used
experimental design. The population of this research was seventh grade students
ofSMPN11Lhokseumawe in academic year 2019/2020 which was divided in
eleven classes and the total number was 337 students. The researcher used
simple random sampling to get the sample. The sample consisted of 46 students. The research was conducted by using experimental and control group. The
experimental group was taught by using Bamboo Dancing method, while the
control group taught without Bamboo Dancing method. The instrument of the
collecting the data was speaking test. The data were analyzed by using t-test
formula. The calculation shows that t-observed (2,04) is higher than t-table(1,67)
or t-score> t-table (2,04>1,67) at the level of significance 0.05 with the degree of
freedom (df) 44. Therefore,the null hypothesis (Ho) is rejected and alternative
hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. It means that teaching speaking by using Bamboo
Dancing method has more significant effect than teaching speaking without using
Bamboo Dancingmethod.
